I'm getting ready to start training for my level 2 certification next year. Right now, I need to focus most on achieving the 1/2 bw press(40-44kg). Is ROP still the recommended route, or is there an updated protocol?

Thanks!

Hey Pavel- I've been on Barbell programs for the last 9+ months with only supplemental KB lifting, so its hard to give an accurate answer. Recently, I Military Pressed the 32kg 3-4 times per side just to see where I was at. I've just been doing S&S w/ the 32kg the past couple weeks as a transition back to the KB.

About a year ago, I was working on ladders up to 5 x 1,2,3,4 w/ the 32kg and could press the 40kg once per side almost every time I tried. Right now I'm weighing in around 190-195, so it looks like I need to press the 44kg unless I drop some weight.

Thanks for your help!

ROP is a wise choice but definitely not the only choice..

How far off are you from your SFG2 weekend?

I have used an experimental program which got a friend of mine from pressing a 32 for 3 reps to pressing a 40kg for 3 on his right side in about 9 weeks..

PM me if you want a copy of the program
