Does anyone have personal experience with taking a kettlebell as a carryon on a flight in the US?

I’ve read what’s at TSA.gov, and I can speculate myself on how an officer would interpret, so not looking for that but for personal experience.

Thanks, Michael

I think your best best is to call the TSA at the actual airports that you'll be going through. I was trying to do the same thing a while ago. For the first airport I was going through, it was a no go. I didn't ask if I could take it as checked luggage or not.

Thanks @Snowman. I've confirmed as checked luggage is fine. (Now, most people would say, why in the world would you want to carry it on anyway if you can check it? Everyone here understands...)

I've also found you can tweet a pic of the item you have a question about to the TSA. Will post their answer. That said, officer on duty has the final call.
