I went along to the local Highland games when i visited home a couple of years ago and noted that the weight for height was 24kg for men and 16kg for women.
At the tine i thought it may just be a local thing.. but it appears that these are standard traditional weights...i may be incorrect on this.
However
If not.. it is interesting that the weights used in Highland games and the weights used in Russian kettlebells are the same.
Taking the history of the Kb is a counter weight for measuring grain (again i may be wrong) is the connection the amount of grain you can fit in a standard size sack?
