I am at the point in my programming where I am starting to think, what’s next?
I am thinking of a SST or BBB template with Strongman implements. I am enjoying a basic 5/3/1 program with Joker Sets and First Set Last, but I am missing the benifits of odd objects.
First thoughts are:
Day1
Press 5/3/1
Circus Dumbell
Day 2
Deadlift 5/3/1
Farmers Walk
Day 3
Bench 5/3/1
Log
Day 4
Front Squat 5/3/1
Keg or Sandbag Loading
I may keep Squat day the same as now because it is working and I don’t really want to change it. I go to my local YMCA and:
Day4
Front Squat 5/3/1
45deg Back Extension DL 3-4 x 5-12
Leg Press 3-4 x 12-20
Leg Raise 3-5 x 5-12
Anyone try or like a Wendler 5/3/1 Boring But Big or Simplest Strength Template? Or any input in general?
SST is very appealing to me also:
Day1
Press 5/3/1
Close Grip Bench
Day 2
Deadlift 5/3/1
Front Squat
Day 3
Bench 5/3/1
Incline Bench
Day 4
Back Squat 5/3/1
Stiff Leg or Goodmorning
I like the focused effort of one main lift, but I like filling the holes with two main lifts and specific variety. There are protocols for the second lift, but I can’t remember the periodization. I am missing the benifits of Incline Press which I have been missing.
The other option is to just do what I am doing, which is working well, until it is not working. Which I am inclined to do as it is still fun.
