I read that if you abstain from ejaculating your testosterone levels peak on the seventh day, but drop after. But, ejaculating several times a week helps prevent prostrate cancer.

There is a theory that pro athletes perform better on road trips because of this.

Hard to tell the validity because who knows how many are faithful.

Then why do professional sports teams almost universally have significantly better records at home?

Pretty obvious.

MLB - last at bat
NBA - Tim Donaghy, Joey Crawford and Scott Foster
NHL - last change
NFL - don't know

Edit: and I also said road trips, meaning long stretches. Not just random road games.

So they perform better, but lose more, and you are asserting that they perform even better on longer road trips?

If teams have much worse records on the road, by what measure are the players performing better?

IDK, pro athletes on the road are oftentime not paragons of virtue. I don't think you can make any assumptions about road games in this regard...

Well, there's allot of Eastern medicine that preaches semen retention. I wouldn't do it for the testosterone benefits, which are negligible, but rather for aggression and confidence. Lots of fighters abstain from sex weeks before a fight. If you're single it may make you more willing to take chances on a girl or chase a relationship.

Without getting to preachy, pornography is 100% a harmful stimulus for the brain. It ruins lives and expectations.

I personally wouldnt interfere with my sex life for the testosterone boost. I´m not a pro athlete so its not worth it for me. If I ever go to the Olympics, I might consider it.

Just for the sake of argument, who even wants higher levels of testosterone?
I'm not talking about people with low/below average (unhealthy) levels, but all the others.
Let's take a sprinter for example. Higher T levels maybe make you 0.05sec faster on the 100m, but the other sideeffects of T (like increased aggression) could lead to a the sprinter doing an early start which will eliminate him from the race. Or an NFL player might get flagged for a personal foul, because he's more aggressive and more easily provoked by his opponents.
Testosterone isn't some magical thing that makes everything better. Like everything else it also comes with side- or negative effects.

Sex and masturbation (even though not to the degree of sex) have a lot of other positive effects (other hormones or psychological effects like joy -> see @Bro Mo 's post) and I'm pretty sure those effects by far outweigh the super little increase of T you get from abstinence.

And for the original question.
If I could choose between slightly more T and a higher chance of not getting prostate cancer I'd choose the latter 1000 out of 1000 times.
I consider that question a rhetorical question...

All other factors aside, my libido and presumably T levels are highest when I train high intensity, shorter workouts.

IIRC, Mr Scaramanga was always at his best after a little foolin around...

If it helps I asked Ori Hofmekler about this. He said that it helps with increasing aggression and drive prior to an athletic drill but it does not promote longevity.

Uhhh huh... yeah nope. ive heard this before and honestly I don't give it much credence. +100% of the reason I first started training at 20 was to look hotter and hopefully end up with a lot of sex.
I do agree giving up porn was the best thing I ever did for my sex life. but thats off topic.

If a thread focused on sexual activity in the context of estrogen, menstruation, pregnancy, or cervical, ovarian, or uterine cancer, would you feel the need to point out that 3/4 of registered members are male?
Great post!
Actually a really interesting thread topic, evan for women, I think.
As a guy I would care about hormones and training! Not only because of sexual issues.
I spent month, if not almost 1,5 years on educating myself in regards to the interrelation of female hormones, cycle, training and food out of personal reasons.
