I've narrowed my decision to get a power bar to either of these.

I don't really need either one and have no plans to compete in PL.

But every once in a while I get a little annoyed that I don't have any barbell at home that has PL rings in the knurl instead of WL rings.

So the choices are:

The sensible, and IPF-approved 20 KG Ohio Power Bar.

Or the insane, approved-by-nobody 45LB 3X AGGRO Ohio Power Bar:

The main physical differences between the two:

  • The knurling of the 3X AGGRO is beyond aggressive
  • 20 KG bar has slightly longer loadable sleeve length
  • Both have stainless shafts, but the AGGRO bar has stainless sleeves, while the 20 KG bar has chrome

Vote on which you think I should get. Cost isn't really a factor.

Aren’t all of your weight plates in kg? And didn’t you say you are “OCD” about mixing pounds and kg? And aren’t you a competitive weightlifter who probably shouldn’t chew up his hands with that cheese-grater knurling?

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yes.

Yes, but I wouldn't be using a power bar in any timeframe close (< 3 months) to competition no matter which bar I pick.

So unless it were to induce permanent injury, hands would be recovered by competition prep time.

True story. Did not see this post prior to my post. Agreed, must have.

No, they passed each other.

But just look at that:

Get this:

and know that when you compete, you've been training one pound heavier at home.

But the AGGRO bar is also 45 lbs.
