We all love to lift here, but what do you lift for? Is lifting your #1 physical activity, or do you lift in order to make your other activities better?

I just started my baseball season, my number 1 sport. In the past couple years I've slowly started to be less enthused by it, but this year stepping on the diamond yesterday for game 1, I felt more electricity and excitement to play than I have in years. I play 2-3x a week from May long weekend to mid-August

I love to play tennis, and try to play at least once every two weeks. Really looking to join a local league, but unfortunately the singles competition night is on the same days as baseball. For now, I get my kicks when I can with my fiancee (really light hitting just for fun, she's not athletic but she's really got into tennis with my influence and since we attended the Australian Open in January) maybe once a week.

Lastly, I like to golf so I try to get once every two weeks or so as well. On average I get 6-8 rounds a year.

With all these activities in summer, I get maybe 3 lifting sessions in, very Easy Strength style, just maintaining strength and not distracting energy from my sports. I lift in winter so I can enjoy my sports in summer. Luckily working at a gym makes this easy to do in my lunch hour. I used to do (and miss greatly) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in winter time, but since I started a side business doing high school baseball strength and conditioning, I no longer have the time.

I love playing every single sport there is. Many I have practiced to a decent amateur level. A few I have practiced more seriously.

I currently play football during most the year and kitesurf from spring to autumn. During spring, when I practice both, its harder to find time for lifting.

I'm finding lately that I spend more time and energy lifting than practicing sports. I also have specific goals with lifting, not so with my other sports. It's becoming no longer a support for other sports but my main sport itself.

I like to study EMT material a lot. There is an app called "EMT Pocket Prep" which is absolute dynamite, i paid for the full version at $25. Do a 10 question quiz almost every day, and read the explanations for most of the questions.

I also like reading local EMS protocol (live in Utah now).

Listening to creepypasta on youtube.

Reading. Currently reading "Do The Work" and another book by Joel Osteen (christian literature).

Christianity, EMS, reading, reading about strength training, or things like fasting. I am a nerdy guy.

I am boring with regards to my hobbies and lead a pretty slow white-collar life.

I like:
-hiking, gardening and being outside
-traveling, visiting cities, cool buildings and infrastructure and visiting museums and historical sites
-reading, nowadays mostly non-fiction about history, military history, politics and economics
-playing computer games (rarely nowadays but I played a lot of RPGs and RTS until the early 2010s)

I play drums and occasionally guitar and bass in a two-piece band. I also like to read, play occasional video games, learn things and have recently developed a liking for calligraphy.

In no particular order: Dogs (I have 3 black lab mutts), strength training, powerlifting, poker, reading (usually fiction but all sorts of stuff), SCUBA, cars, motorcycles.

Another one I have recently, probably temporarily in all likelihood, stopped is social drinking. It's been a month. Since I've stopped I feel great but do miss it. I also used to home brew beer but haven't done that in a while.

I draw, do some simple sculpture, used to homebrew but haven't in years. I enjoy backpacking and canoeing - nothing crazy, two or three day trips.

I have a mild addiction to Balearic slinging although I'm not very consistent.

As a side job I do some cutlery and hand tool sharpening - knives, axes, bowsaws, that sort of thing - very relaxing.

Lifting definitely makes everything better for me. One very important aspect of making everything better is that it keeps my bad back healthy. I usually compete at lifting, too, typically going to powerlifting meets for about half of each 5-year age bracket I'm in, and doing other things, e.g., AWA (all-'round weight lifting), when I'm not focused on competing at the deadlift.

Like Steve Friedes says, lifting makes life in general easier. Gardening is a hobby of mine, that and outdoor work on our property definitely is helped by having a fitness base....I don't think I could run a 10k relatively well, but I sure have noticed I could do things like shovel out and haul/dump/spread a truckbed full of wood chip mulch entirely on my own pretty much with no breaks, for example....just more endurance for keeping going in things like that for sure. Both sets of grandparents were immigrants to Canada during the "next to free" land rush/push to settle the prairies in the 1920's (German descent physically from Poland, Ukranian), and they made a huge impression on me as a kid with their farm work ethic. My goal is to be like my Baba who still knelt and gardened in her 90's. They didn't exercise in the same sense as the weight room, but just through everyday activity. We definitely are more automated nowadays so that and seeing people in varying states of deterioration as they age in my medical field work is a motivator.

Baking/food in general is another, although that isn't exactly waistline conducive lol. Currently mastering sourdough bread, and assisting my oldest who is an aspiring chef so that means trying out lots of new stuff.

Not much of a reader of fiction, but more into various nonfiction...psychology stuff, astronomy, metaphysics, etc, and various diy stuff eg: home renos

Hello,

I enjoy gardening and wood chopping. I also really enjoy walking and hiking. When summer comes, I also do diving. All year long, I play boxing.

Otherwise, as a French, even if it may sound cliché, I...cook a lot :)

Kind regards,

Pet'

@Pavel Macek, although I suspect it is not a purist's approach, is it possible/advisable to try Pu-Erh tea that is sold in tea bags? I am looking at the example shown on amazon.com and wondering if you might care to make a specific recommendation?

Thank you.

I'm always fascinated by the hobbies of others, it's cool to see such diverse interests. I only listed physical hobbies, but I too love reading, and really enjoy cooking/trying new cuisine. My other half and I enjoy tending to our vegetable garden and reaping the benefits it delivers

I practice bass, no band but taking lessons. Also enjoy reading, hiking, mixing cocktails, and checking out different restaurants (especially mom and pop shops, ethnic food, and places with some history).

Volleyball (4v4 in sand)
OCRs & occasional road races
Karate
Coaching kids sports (baseball, volleyball, basketball)

... and Minecraft. Because after being dad & coach & a ninja, I'm a huge nerd.
