Besides increasing strength, are there other health benefits associated with isometric exercises or the static exercises, like L-sits and front levers, you find  in gymnastics?

You hear about the different ways other forms of exercise benefit a person but there really isn't much talk about isometric-type training outside of certain groups.

Thanks.

There was a study done back in 2006 by the NIH that looked at bone density increases as a product of isometric exercises.

The data seemed to support the idea that cessation of an exercise program (any) does not lead to an immediate loss in bone density.

You can probably find the study at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Chris,

Yoga's outside of my wheelhouse.

Tried it once...the room smelled of weakness.

(That was a joke, please do not send hate mail)
