I found an article in the library describing some of the sports governed by Sports Committee of the Ministry of Defense and what was needed to obtain various rankings in each. Most of them had clear military - obstacle course running, grenade throwing for distance and accuracy, etc. - as well as one sentence descriptions.
But there was an event called military gymnastics for which there was no description. I assume it wasn't just regular gymnastics performed by the military, since there were no other "regular" sports governed by the MOD. Can anyone tell me what this might consist of and how the competitions were staged?
