Hey all,

Totally get why Simple and Sinister is always referenced on here. I will be ordering from Amazon US (as these books never wind up in the Canada store or if they do (rarely) they are so overpriced it is ridiculous.

I was just wondering if books like Enter the Kettlebell, Return of the Kettlebell, etc still had value or are they out of date?

I keep reading Right of Passage and other things on here and would like to expand my knowledge.

Thoughts?

I know Amazon.ca can somtimes be pricey, but often times ordering from Amazon.com there is the exchange rate and shipping can cost more.
As for Pavels books, they all are relevant and not outdated. Pavel may have tweaked a few things, but they still work.

Enter the kettlebell and Return of the Kettlebell are still certainly worth owning. I'd say it's worth hitting the simple standard from s&s before starting anything else though

That is true and why I have hesitated. But I saw one seller wanted $90 of a USED copy of ETK. S&S isn't even available in Canada it seems.

@DavThew

That would be my starting point.

I also prefer the paper versions, but you can't beat the Kindle versions for price and portability. I travel a bit and I always have my tablet, and thus access to the 'books' for reference or inspiration

I solved the problem with a tablet (which I already had), kindle app, and kindle version of the books. I prefer real paper books, but the price and ease of purchase differences are substantial (assuming you have a tablet)
Would love to get it on my phone that way, but no kindle app. Plus we are trying to set an example for our son about not constantly staring at screens. Have thought of going the kindle route though.

Yes, you really have to wonder about the prices on Amazon sometimes. But keep an eye out though. I once got Scott Sonnons book circular training for five dollars. The price usually ranged between ninety to twoo hundred dollars.

Just looked in the App Store and Apple just made a liar of me. Sweet!!!!

Did you ever see the $1000 1ft HDMI cable on there? It was making the rounds on the internet. The reviews were hysterical.

But yeah, there are times when I see the prices and go "good luck selling that". Or you see the price then see the shipping and go.....why is the shipping almost 3 times what the price is?

Ok. How do I back up my book purchase?

If I get a proper Kindle, how do I move my purchase from my iPhone to my Kindle via a Mac?

I also prefer real books, but I have all of Pavel's on Kindle as well so I can reference them anywhere worth my phone, kindle, tablet or laptop.

if you have ETK is it worth purchasing Simple and Sinister?
That depends on your goals. If you, like I do, consider happiness to be putting heavy things over your head (a turn of phrase we attribute to Master SFG Jon Engum), then it's absolutely worth doing. If you like reading Pavel's books, even if you don't intend to press, it's worth owning.

Thanks for the great comments... and yes I DO enjoy reading Pavel's books. So it looks like I need to place an order :)
