Nice.

How do your elbows feel?
My past 8 weeks have been zercher only so it feels the same way high bar does on my back now.

Sort of similar to like when you're a beginner and you start backsquatting it hurts like heck but now is natural - zercher does the same for the elbows

Cool.

I've never messed with Zercher long enough to adapt, because I have to front squat, instead.

I've been doing squats again. Looks like I'm good to go again, which is great, of course.

The training has gone fine and I've surpassed my own expectations.

So, a couple of days ago, I decided to load only 140kg on the bar and improve my numbers so far.

Alas, it was not meant to be. I went up to ten again, without any real stress apart from getting slightly winded. But I developed such a fundamental distaste for the long sets that I simply refused to go on, even considering the honor and acclaim available through this challenge.

I suppose I'll try again later this year but it doesn't look good to me. But squats, squats are nice.

I feel you. I've hit some kind of plateau actually and it's a little frustrating to be honest. An adductor issue isn't helping, but yea, squats ARE nice.

I think it's the adductor that was my problem. Took almost two years. Oh well.

Yes I've decided I'm not going above 5 reps for any set during my training. Then once I'm ready, I'll push it... 1 time... and see how many I'm willing to do.

That sounds like a good plan.

I think I went at it too leisurely. I'll really need to push it. Maybe ask someone to yell at me and put some rocking tunes on far too loud. I think I'll give it one more shot and then forget it.

I had (and am still having) a struggle with squats in my current hypertrophy block going 10+ reps.

I don't like them and I want to throw a tantrum. But they are making my legs grow because it's a novel stimulus.

The 20 degree squat wedge front cyclist squats for reps are especially frown-inducing.

There is a time and place for using the main lift for hypertrophy work. But I'm not sure whether I'd just do a HIT style 5-8 rep set and call it a day.

If I wanted to do more of pure hypertrophy work, I would do belt squats or step ups or Bulgarian split squats.

Perhaps I'm not clear on what you meant by "HIT style", but I'm definitely not doing barbell back squats as met cons.

I can do a set of 10-12 rep back squats in the 120 kg range and get local metabolite build up before I get systemically gassed.

If I'm doing hypertrophy work, I'll do 4-5 sets of that in a session at meso cycle peak before deload. Rest between sets is typically 1-2 min.

As for 20 degree wedge squats, those are definitely not a main lift.
