Old Forum Bench Press on Variety Days?

On the ROP would it overdo the pressing if I did the bench on variety days? Say 5x5?
 
For me, it would overwork my shoulders.  Variety does not mean another program, and 5 x 5 is another strength program.  If you must bench on Variety days, take the Even Easier Strength approach - read the book "Easy Strength" if you haven't already for more.

steve beat me to it, so i don't have much left to say :) Just use the variety day to practice your bench groove so that you won't have to relearn it when you do a bench focused program later. A little note: if you keep your overhead pressing ahead of your bench, your shoulders tend to stay healthy when benching.
