Pavel CEO Mar 10, 2014 #2 Edgars, yes—but you will need to change the programming. First, work up to a heavy single, then do some back-off sets. E.g., if 50kg is your max, do side press 20kg x 5/2 sets; bent press 25kg x 1, 30x1, 35x1, 40x1, 42.5x1, 45x1/3 sets; 35kg x 3/3.

Iron Tamer Strongman, Speaker and Seeker of Truth Mar 10, 2014 #3 Agreed. Multiple reps with the barbell in the bent press can be tricky after it gets over about 60% of your 1RM.

Boicis Level 5 Valued Member Mar 13, 2014 #5 Many thanks Pavel and Tamer for advice! For bent presses, I am using a heavy dumbell which I can load up to 63 kg and kettlebells - I hope I do not necessarily need a barbell.
