i have moved to another home were i cannot train with normal weights. so i dicided to pick up my kettlebell again. i am a martial artist so i think its a good choiche:

a year ago orso i could easaly press a 24 bell for 10 reps orso. but now i have tried it again and with cmy left hand i feel nothing but when i press with my right arm i feel a lott of pain on top of my shoulder, just if someone pulls on a muscle orso. i can manage to do 5 reps but then i have to stopp because of the pain. even if i use the 16 kilo bell. what could be the problem? i aam a window cleaner so i use my right arm a lott, but then again i always have done that.

As noted in the other thread, see a professional. Stop pressing until someone can talk to you in person - a physio, a chiropractor, an FMS practitioner. Pain, again, is a red light situation.

Could  be for a lot of various reasons, but if it is the first time you are in pain with the kettlebells ( you  are right, it is a good choice ), your body is not anymore used to use the kettlebells. Better to begin with 12 kg for a while and if you are not anymore in pain, you can increase slightly the number of reps first, then, the weight.

If painful with 12, go to have an ultra soundmovers often it is just a mobility problem. " use it or loose it ".

thanks christine, that could be the problem indeed. i will take your advice and start with a lighter kettlebell, i will try to forget my macho behaevor ;-) , my ego will get in the way sayiing that 12 kilo is nothing. but right now it seems the only solution. thanks for reacting.

Wim,

No one can diagnose you online.  As Dunte said, stop pressing and see a licensed professional to determine what is causing the pain.  Preferably an SFMA Dr. to teach you how to move better and prevent this from continuing to happen.

In addition to professional help, consider googling chest expanders for shoulder stability and Fix your shoulder pain.  I'm rather evangelistic about this shoulder health program.  I know what it's like to have ongoing, apparently source-less shoulder pain, and to a see a number of movement specialists without relief.

It could well be that you have an issue that requires professional medical help.  However, another possibility (which I overlooked for months when I was in your position) is that you've got a muscular imbalance or stability issue that ONLY YOU can fix.  It never hurts to have a professional opinion, but consider implementing these exercises into your fitness routine.  I hope you have as much luck resolving your issue as I have So you can get back to getting stronger.

Get it looked at to make sure there are no tears or impingements. Personal preference if it were me would be someone who is SFMA or FMS but getting that checked out in any case is the big thing.

I have history of numerous shoulder injuries (just came off second scope for left shoulder in 6 -1/2 yrs)- I know my body well and usually correct with what type of injury I have weather tendinitis or impingement, etc. - sounds like you may have a/c impingement - like everyone else said we are not Drs. but in mean time until you heal you may consider trying more pulling movements to relieve pain (high rep kettle bell shrugs 35-40 reps will make some space and in the A/C and give a little muscle preservation while giving relive) another thing I find balances things out is incline dumbbell rows- set incline on lowest setting and but a dumbbell underneath the lower end to help tilt back to reduce incline- this works my lats and middle upper back that will also help balance out some issues you may be having - at least you can still work upper body when not able to press-

Good luck

@ Wim : a good mobility warm up before, right and left side, upper and lower body, dynamic. Keep up posted.
