THE ‘3 TO 5’ METHOD: STRENGTH TRAINING GUIDELINES FOR SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS TEAMS

3-5 Exercises (total for the whole body)
3-5 Sets
3-5 Repetitions
3-5 Minutes of rest between the sets
3-5 Days of rest for each

My Muay Thai and Jiujitsu coaches say the same with skills and that in turn circles back to strength as a skill too.

Also that Muscle and Fitness interview Pavel with ladders gave me an idea for later on down the road (a year or so from now following my Rogozhnikov run). Use the ladders to build a max then derive a training max off of it (85%) then jump into a 5/3/1 cycle.
That'll do the trick. Your BJJ will definitely benefit from the size and strength gained from 531.

Striking will always benefit more from increase power to weight ratio and by nature of striking...explosiveness. So throwing in some throws and jumps (providing you meet the advised prerequisite by Dr Verkhoshansky) will benefit striking immensely.

Some really simple guidelines here.

Squat, bench, pull up and deadlift will serve you well.

Kettlebell ballistics and power cleans also are quite nice for that too.

If you are short on time and resources then KB are ideal. They offer many adaptations with simple training programs.

But if you have the time and resources then having specific training sessions for plyometrics, for aerobic capacity work, for strength work etc is the best approach.

This way you do not dilute your adaptations and avoid the interference effect.

But you are your best resource on deciding whether you have the time and resources to commit to whatever philosophy.
