Does anyone have any experience personally or first hand knowledge of anyone feeling a painful popping sensation in their forearm doing palms facing pull ups?

I should note that I have  long arms for how tall I am.

It doesn't matter how wide of a grip I use, it still happens.

Chin ups with palms away and neutral grip pulls do not do this at all. High volume chin ups will cause soreness so I use neutral grip almost exclusively.

This has been a problem for quite some and had resigned myself to simply doing neutral grip. But it always nagged on my mind that I cannot do regular straight bar pull ups and would like to explore possible reasons as to why.

1)get that looked at, eh?

2)it would seem you have the pullup/chinup nomenclature flipped. This really isn't important, but it would make for easier communication.

3)it sounds as though you have confirmed 2 variations that do not cause pain. use these, discarding the ones that hurt. also experiment with ring chins and towel chins. these two tend to be shoulder and elbow friendly for different reasons which i am not going to go into right now :)
