Hi all,

In recently re reading "The Russian Kettlebell Challenge" & "Power to The People" I was struck by the difference in the appearance & explanation of the sidepress.

Apparently RKC was written after PTP so should I assume the technique in RKC this takes precedence & is the "correct" one?

To  me the sidepress in RKC looks alot like the bent press. I really struggle to see the difference except maybe that you drop lower in the bent press

The side press and bent press have similar starting positions(arm position further back in the BP). The main difference is that the side press is an actual press. With the bent press, you are going to hold the bell in its initial position in space while you "screw" your body underneath it before standing up after lockout.

Thanks for that that has helped me visualize the bent press & side press differently.

Do you have a opinion on the two seemingly different techniques for the side press in PTP & RKC books?

I don't have the books in front of me to compare, but could it be the difference between side pressing a barbell and side pressing a kettlebell?

This is kinda how the RKC book explains it except pavel seems to use the non working arm posted just above the knee on the side press in the book. While in the RKC book for the bent press he kinda wedges his arm between his two legs looking at the photos.

This seems the closest to the PTP version visually that I could find.
