Will it hurt/bad for legs to perform swings with squat shoes?

Squat shoes aren't ideal for what we look for from the swing, Dan.  Better no shoes at all, and if some shoes, then better shoes that allow as much feel of the floor as possible.

OK, Steve, i thought this would be the case.  I live in Houston and work out of home garage gym, thus in Summer Barefoot is no issue, winter I will stick with minimal cusion flat shoe
