Some other threads had me consider what a curriculum might look like for strength. It seems like some programs might look like prerequisites, others more like electives, and others more like a graduate thesis. If I were creating a curriculum of programs (in no specific order) it might consist of:
  • Starting Strength (To learn the mechanics of lifting weight)
  • 5x5 (To learn about recovery)
  • PTTP (To learn about tension)
  • S&S (To learn the relationship between tension and relaxation)
  • GTG/Easy Strength (To learn about professionalism)
  • Westside Methods (To learn about speed)
  • Bulgarian Methods (To learn about confidence)

Thoughts?

Good list.

I would sayPTTP , NW, and S&S as foundation - and then anything you want according your goals.

Note 1: Westside/Bulgarian school is imho highly powerlifting specific, for equipped lifters, not mentioning other factors.

Note 2: I am huge fan of Wendler’s 5/3/1.

Note 3: Classical American school/linear periodization - good stuff.

Note 4: I would add Plan Strong as the undisputed king of the strength training programming.

I'd add the Greyskull Linear Progression by Johnny Shaeffer into the mix as well due to its guidance on how to layer in things like conditioning, Olympic lifts, etc...
