I can only encourage you to continue doing it long term!
It does have a tendency to develop a life of it's own once you do it long term, and you start to see benefits that are completely unexpected! both physically and mentally
I just finished 2 9hour/day horserides over the weekend which would have left me sore and grumpy before, now I was fresh as a baby during and afterwards, and put in a session of S&S every day after the ride... how's that for a WTH effect!!
And I can stay calm and focused and breathe purely through my nose even during interval sprints now, HR at around 185 (which is my calculated max), that one is completely baffling to me, no more need to gasp for air!
