Can anyone recommend a pull up bar that I can take on the road with me that I can use in hotel rooms?

Door gym is the simplest.

Bar from Trapeze Rigging (Google them) is great.

You could try something like this one:

In a pinch, I've used a tie-down strap and pvc pipe for a makeshift pull-up bar. It's not great because the bar rolls; but, like I said, it works in a pinch.

Phil, I haven't seen that before.  It's basically a Door Gym but it disassembles - nice.

Here is the one I own, which is more suitable for travelling by car.

Rick - if you want zero equipment options:

pull up on a door. Guess depends on the quality of the door, or more specifically door hinges.

Pull up on a door frame. Hang from your finger tips for a rock climbing/parkour variant. Again, depends on the quality of the joinery.

bodyweight plank pull. More a core plank drill but very demanding. it is said to be a good lead up exercise for pull ups But I find it a harder exercise than a strict pull up. Sure it'll be on you tube somewhere if you don't know it or have never seen it before. There are progressions. maybe not what you are asking but for compromise/change you could work something out with no equipment.
