Strong Endurance when doing A+A training, do you HAVE to use high tension tehcniques & power breathing when doing those occasional intense contractions

an article from pavel tsatsouline himself called strongfirst roadwork says that to train aerobic & alactacid u can work below ur aerobic threshold and do occasional intense contractions like a OAPU and recover from those contractions with aerobics with no breaks. do u need to employ power breathing and high tension techniques during those occasional intense contractions
 
I would say that using high tension & power breathing would meet both 1) the intent of the strength-building aspect of the exercise like OAPU, and also 2) the intent of the energy systems training aspect by using more alactic energy per set.

However, no one will force you to do it... You can still do the exercises however you want to :)
