Do we have a recommended method of hanging kettlebells from the waist while doing tactical pull-ups?
I don't own a weight belt or any plates, but I have some heavy duty nylon straps (from a redundant set of gymnastic rings). I've seen some fancy rigs on the good ol' Google search, but I never...
Hello,
I have a question regarding Armstrong Pull Up Program.
I tested my max in pull ups with result - 6 reps.
So my training set it will be - 3 reps.
What if on Monday I manage to do 8 reps of pull ups?
Should I increase my training sets to 4 reps?
Hi StrongFirst Family.
I would like to now your opinion about the ways to increas Pull-up RM. How did you approach it? My current RM is 12, but would like to improve it up to 20. During a week I do 3 sessions, each 20-23 minutes long, and it goes like this:
3 reps with 12kg every 2 minutes...
I've been alternating between practising my pull-ups with either my thumb hooked over the top of the bar with the rest of my fingers or wrapped around it. I've been finding the thumbless grip easier - rep quality is consistently higher, grip fatigue is reduced - but I'm wondering what the reason...
In conjugate I monitor everything, but I haven't figured out how to calculate a number representative of volume for the bodyweight (and weighted) assistance.
Pullups - what percentage of bw should I assign to a pullup? Also, say I add 100lb, is it then simply (% x BW +100)?
Dips, hanging leg...
Hi. I'm planning to start Vodka and Pickles and I'm considering how to implement upper body exercises.
One of my conception is to add the following:
Dips (weighted and unweighted)
Push-ups (4-8-12-16-20-16-12-8-4 Pyramid performed 3-4 times a week according to this plan)
Pull-ups
Advance PIKE...
How do snatches compare to pull ups in terms of upper body muscles involved?
Would the press and snatch be sufficient for upper body or is it necessary to do pull ups? In the Viking warrior conditioning program he includes the snatch, press, pull up and pistol but won’t this lead to over...

So a post here about results of a recently completed weighted fighter pull program that got be a lifetime PR in the 1rm weighted pull up and max reps with 10kg.
In preparing for my next tsc in the elite division I needed to get my weighted pull up max reps higher(10kg). After calculation...
has anyone experienced a compliment between the 2?
I've read Karen Smith say that healthy deadlifts are good for pullups
Geoff Neupert says they are complimentary exercises in Strength Shortcuts
yet I've always thought they are too much of the same thing.. i wonder why
Hi all,
I started S&S a few months ago from Monday to Friday with good results and I'm working towards the OAP in a GTG manner. I tried to buy a pull up bar but my door frames don't have the correct dimensions. Saturdays I have more free time and can go to a park with pull up bars. I've never...
Hello,
So i'v been struggling to increase my max pull up reps for months now. I'v tried pretty much every type of pull up training except greasing the groove and decided to give that a shot now. I'm currently able to do 10-14 reps in a max effort set (it varies a lot from day to day).
So my...
