Today's Practice: The King of All Lifts
  • Kettlebell bent press: regular volume - warm up singles from 12kg to 40kg, and then 2x40kg, 2x40kg, 2x48kg, 2x40kg, 2x48kg, 2x40kg, 2x40kg, 2x40kg, 2x40kg, 2x40kg; left hand, rest; right hand, rest, 40 reps total (working sets).
  • Tactical pull-ups: 12, 11, 10, 9, 8

Good session, feeling STRONG. My training buddy, pushing 55 years (a famous Czech rock star), S&S - one-arm swings and get-ups with 48 kg - not shabby either.

Interesting - every single lesson I realize a small but important detail in my bent press practice. I keep notes and keep updating the draft of the Imperial Program Minimum book. It will be the most detailed bent press instructional available, guaranteed. As for snatch, I do have some interesting ideas and details, but I will ask my way more experienced colleagues to share their wisdom, tips, and tricks.
 
Quick update

Frequent traveling (teaching, short holiday, teaching, short holiday...) - of course, I keep practicing on the road: meditation, Great Gama Protocol, lifting dumbbells and kettlebells whenever I have access to weights.

Because I hurt my SI joint a few weeks ago (probably an MMA high kick gone wrong), I skipped kettlebell snatches for a while and did this famous pull-up program instead: The Fighter Pullup Program Revisited | StrongFirst

I haven't practiced pull-ups for some time, so I started ("just") at 10-9-8-7-6 strict reps.

After 5 weeks, I ended up at 14-14-13-12-11.

New max: 22 strict "tactical pull-ups."

  • Kettlebell snatch, 24 kg: low volume, 6 sets of 4; left hand rest; right hand rest, OTM, 48 reps total.
  • Kettlebell bent press, 40 kg: low volume, 6 sets of 2; left hand, rest; right hand, rest, 24 reps total.

  • Kettlebell bent press, 40 kg: medium volume, 2x40 kg, 2x40 kg, 23x40 kg, 2x40 kg, 2x40 kg, 2x40 kg, 2x40 kg, 2x40 kg; always left hand, rest; right hand, rest, 34 reps total (sum of left and right).
After all those weeks of travelling, I need to build up the volume first, hence a step back.
