I am currently doing the classic 10,000 swing challenge: 500 swings a day, 4 or 5 days a week. It seems to be more than enough for me and I cannot imagine doubling the workload and not taking rest days.

I agree with Pet'. 300 is a good sweet spot. I've been mixing them up with:
Jumping rope
Goblet Squats
Press
and my personal favorite. Reverse Getups. Snatch bell to top getup. Get down, then get up, snatch to other side. Do 1 on each side, put the bell down and do 20-25 swings. Rest as necessary do 12-15 rounds.
