(In-)Consistently Simple

21/2/22 1420 1/2 S&S after 2 nightshifts, 3hrs sleep.

3mins 4/6 point crawling, 45 sec dead bugs. Turkish get down to arm bar to get up x1/1 @12kg.

Swings
10T @16x4
10T @24x2
24kg felt heavy, bit rough on the hands.

TGU
6/6 @16kg. All sets completed as a continuous flow. Focused on dropping the knee straight down on the reverse lunge, found it much more stable.

Loving doing the TGU back to back, has a nice flow feel to it

22/2/22 1200 S&S# 25
3x S&S warm up. Halos @12kg, GS @16

SWINGS
10T×8 @16
10T×2 @24

TGU
4/4 @16kg
1/1 @24kg

3x 90/90 & QL straddle on block

Not sure what it is, but there is definitely something to it.
I agree. It's a good and proven way to do it. Did it years back when many followed Program Minimum from the Enter The Kettlebell book, before S&S book arrived... and now I'm following it again.

Hey, one question. How long your S&S session takes on average? Maybe I can try to do S&S the way you do. I don't like the 2nd edition's way to rest a lot between the sets. I'm aiming for 20-40 mins tops, but everything beyond that is too much.

I haven't been timing them too precisely lately, but today I did the 10 getups in 9:45, with the last 6 done as a continuous set. Swings I find have been taking me around 15-18 minutes or so, depending on how much sleep I've had.

To be honest, I think I should probably be resting a bit more between sets of swings, because I find that when I do, I have much more power and they feel better. I don't have that problem with the TGU though, but it could be because I'm only working with 2 sets @24kg, I might find I need more rest as I progress further. For whatever reason though, I don't like dragging the sessions out for too long.

So probably 30-40 mins total with 3 rounds of the warm up and a few quick stretches after.

Thanks for the reply. You're doing great. Your numbers are spot on. I almost achieved Simple Standard in 2017, but got sick and it didn't happened. Now I might try it again. I want to achieve Timeless or even Timed Standard @ 40 kg bell on the long run. We'll see. But I like to keep sessions short now and try to push the limits later, if I get the motivation and my things in order. But that 30-40 minutes sounds reasonable.

24/2/22 1300

1hr indoor bouldering. Hands a bit too raw for swings.

Came home and did 5/5 TGU @12kg with a press at every stage on the way up. Felt good.

2x 90/90 & QL straddle on block

First day of GTG S&S today ( Kettlebell - Greasing the groove with S&S) 4 sessions approx 90-120mins apart

10Tx3 plus 4 mini sessions of:
5x GS @16kg straight into 10T x1 @16kg
10L/10R 1HS@ 16kg
2/2 TGU + press @16kg.

Felt worn out after 4 sessions, might drop the pressing from the TGU for now, and dial the swings back to 10L/10R only.

Progress was made, things were learnt. Hopefully this works long term.

3x S&S warmup @12kg
SWINGS
10T×2 @16kg
10R/10L × 4/4 @16kg

TGU
3/3 @16kg
2/2 @24kg

1st session using 16kg for almost all swings. Felt pretty good, bit hard on the hands, particularly LHS.

1st session with 2/2 @24kg TGU. 1st time using wrist sweatbands to cushion the bell against my forearm. Made a big difference, will continue.

1x 90/90 and QL straddle on block

1/3/22 2000 & 2130 2x Mini S&S on night shift.
2x sessions of:
5 GS @16kg
10Tx1 @16kg
10L/10R × 2/2@16kg
Then
2/2 @16kg 1st set
3/3 @16kg 2nd set

Felt energising, each session took about 18 mins. Need to sort out a solution for stretching.

3/3/22 1100 S&S#27
10Tx 6 @16kg
10R/10L/10R @16kg
(9 sets)
Had a knot in my LHS Lat that decided I wasn't swinging any more on the 10th rep of the 9th set.
Tried a get up @ 16kg, decided during the prone to elbow that it wasn't going to happen.

Bit disappointed in myself to be honest, LHS 1HS were feeling great too, nice and solid. Suspect this was a case of too much too soon doing 5/5 and more 1HS in the last 2 days practices, as I haven't been loading the 1HS @16 for that much volume.

Spent some time on the foam roller and laccrose ball with the heat pack. Not sure if it actually my Lat or perhaps Serratus Anterior, there's there's few tender points getting around on my back/ribcage.

4/3/22
Had a session with an SFGII who is also a Myotherapist. Best money I've spent. Worked out a few knots, worked on TGU form and went through both types of arm bars. Anyone in Australia looking for instruction, look up Seamus Hayes in Melbourne.

7/3/22 1030 / 1200 / 1720 GTG S&S#3

1/1 @16kg
(2/2 @16kg on 2nd)

1 round of
5GS @16kg
10T x 4 @16kg
2/2 @16kg

Felt good.

1/1 of straight and bent arm bars @8kg, 1x 90/90 before bed

5x GS@ 16kg
10T x 4 @16kg

Busy day at work, including some tight valves. Did my fair share of work outside of S&S

*Edit*
21,000 steps to boot.

5GS x2
5GB x2
10T x2
10L/10R

Felt a bit s***, noticed a bit of tightness in RHS hand on 10R. TGU wasn't quite feeling it either. Up at 23:45 last night with kids. See how I feel later.

16/3/22 1700 (work)
All at 16kg
5GS x3
5GB x3
2/2 C+P
4/4 TGU

No swings today, forearms good after a week away to QLD. Trying to narrow down either TGU or swings as culprit. Bit of flexor tendon tightness on RHS after last set.

Will try work the Tyler twist into routine a few times per day with the green bar.
