How I increased my Kettlebell Military press 1RM—and Overall Strength

Real people, real results! Here is what our students say:

Thanks to Fabio Zonin’s tips and plans I managed to improve both my technique and my strength in the kettlebell military press, reaching 24kg and achieving the Iron Maiden Challenge. I continued working with Fabio’s drills and strategies and within a few months I achieved a new personal record of 28kg.
—Martina Minopoli, SFGI, SFL, Iron Maiden. Naples, Italy

One of my favorite lifts is the kettlebell military press. I was able to press a 28kg kettlebell for one rep and, thanks to the technique tips and the progressions I learned from Fabio Zonin, I got to press 28kg for three solid reps.
—Arianna Zaccagnini, StrongFirst Certified Team Leader, Iron Maiden, Sinister. Rome, Italy

This is what I learned working with Fabio Zonin: Technique tips, progressions, and training protocols that have solidified my military press, thanks to which I was able to overcome my limits and complete the Iron Maiden Challenge. At the time I was honored for being the first one in Italy and perhaps also in Europe. Since then, Fabio has further sharpened his blade and introduced even more effective details and progressions. I tested all this also on students who are not as ambitious as I am, and the results proved to be just as excellent.
—Lara Bizzotto, SFG II, SFL, Iron Maiden. Vicenza, Italy

After attending StrongFirst Certified Master Instructor Fabio Zonin’s Press workshop in 2019  Philadelphia, my one-arm military press PR went from 32kg to 36kg. By adding intuitive drills to my training, pressing strength is not only improved, but the strength of the entire lifting is growing together.  Even if you know how to press, all the details in this course could be a game changer in strength training.

I have always followed Fabio Zonin since the first approaches with kettlebells and thanks to his preparations I arrived at results that initially seemed unattainable both in terms of technique and strength. I managed to get the Beast Tamer and by continuing to train and perfect the technique I completed 5RM with the 48kg kettlebell.
—Silvio Sparapan, SFG 1, SFG II, SFL, Beast Tamer. Rovigo, Italy

Back in 2016 I was preparing for SFG Level II instructor certification as well as to attempt the notorious Beast Tamer Challenge when I first met Fabio Zonin and did a session with him. The purpose of the training session was to work on my military press to help me complete my SFG II certification and to attain the title of Beast Tamer. When I first went in, my one rep max for military press was a 40kg kettlebell, which I had only done one time and could not always achieve. After working with Fabio in our session and following his training program, I was able to not only achieve my 1/2 bodyweight press (44kg for me) for the SFG II certification, but I also achieved the press of the Beast (48kg) to help me accomplish my goal of becoming a Beast Tamer. This tremendous amount of improvement happened in just a matter of weeks! Learning small technique tips from Fabio, as well as following an expert plan written by him is what I give credit to for helping me reach these goals. If Fabio’s coaching cues and plans for pressing don’t work, no one’s will! I cannot recommend Fabio’s pressing workshop and coaching enough!
