I struggle with pins and needles during the overhead component of the Cook carry.

I've felt this too. I figured it was cardiovascular - heart just can't pump the blood against gravity to get up the raised arm, particularly when the muscles are tensed. But I'm no expert.

@WhatWouldHulkDo

My condolences for the recent loss of your friend.

His physical abilities (and that of your sensei) empowered them - not only to pursue the amazing things they achieved - but also enabled them to have a positive impact on you and the others around them.

My strength gains so far certainly have had a beneficial impact on the life of my daughter. Similarly their strength seems to have had a greater purpose.

Thanks for posting on the forum, and helping me to progress.

24/8

Back from hols, haven't unpacked my 16 yet.
Did some familiarisation with the 24.

I improvised some isometric work:
Goblet hold (body in lock out, bell at chest level)
6 rung ladder - 30 sec - 25s - 20s - 15s - 10s - 5s
Increased body tension for each rung (from "firm tension" for 30 sec up to "maximal contraction" with the 5 sec hold.)
EMOM, with fast and loose rest when bell is parked)
Aim: be stronger than the bell.

2x tension ladder (24)
3x10 2h swing (24)

Felt good.
Considered an extra set of each - but first time playing with the 24 so decided to keep it within my ability.

Session with James Beeson SFG.

Got exactly what I wanted from the session - plus a great work out - plus a lift in my baseline confidence - plus some challenges to work towards.

Cheers James, and congrats on your recent engagement!

I guess I did 2 full sessions back to back on the 6th/7th - so I earned a 10 day rest ;)

Halo 3x5 (16)
Squat curl 3x5 (16 )
GSQ 3x5 (16)
Hip bridge 3x5

Swing 6x10 (16)
Get-up 1*3 (16 )

Pressed for time and must have been a little fatigued from yesterday as the power just died during (what became my last set of) my swings. So I reverted back to "half-measures".
Did the 3 get-ups back-to-back left then 3 back-to-back right.

Got some nice feelings from a few of the swings:
Playing chicken with the bell by hinging later. The slight pause at the top of the back swing. And trying to lift the hips slightly better into the wall-touch position to increase hamstring engagement. Beginning to feel those aspects a bit more how I want them, not every time but with some focus I can actually start to feel the sensations I'm after, which is really good.

Hey buddy I took your advice and started another training log on the members only page. Hope everything is going well. My log is called commitment to discipline. I’m just focusing solely on S&S.

@SteveRogers thanks for the message :)
I'll definitely have a look, hope that it is going well for you?

My training hit a bit of a dry spell - the guy I was going to our work gym with went off sick (and hasn't come back) and it destroyed the pattern I'd built up.
That +/- confidence and personal issues put a hiatus on my training, since my last update really which looking now was back in September!

Over the last 3 weeks I've trained pretty consistently at home, and just returned to reading these forums. I'm aiming to be more consistent, so I should really think about logging my work again.
Best, Will

Saw James Beeson SFG.
Trained get ups and then he showed me the clean (which I've never really dabbled with). Finished with a swing-clean-press conditioning circuit.
I'm going to need to get some clean volume in as I found it hard to hit a rhythm yet.

Phase 2

Plan
Gonna run an two week schedule split: A/B
conditioning/strength

[edit - no I'm not :D]
