Warm Up:
Halo - 3 x 10_16kg.
PGS - 2 x 5_24kg, 1 x 5_32kg.

2-Arm Swing Practice: 6:50.
10 x 10_32kg. Feeling strong.

3 minute rest:

Turkish Get Up: 18:00
2 x 10_24kg, 8 x 10_32kg.
False start again with first TGU (Left), took a few attempts to find it again. Stop and rethink what I’m doing again. Last two sets better.

Close Grip Chin-ups: 4:00

Get out the book again, do the Get-Up drills, focus on section ‘To Elbow’. On the right, leading with chest comes naturally, but on the left, not so much. That’s where my focus has to be so I can progress. Practice this drill with the 32kg.
 
10 minute drill on ‘To Elbow’, start with the 24kg to warm up, then switch up to 32kg. 5 reps each side with the 32kg; first rep poor with the left, but instructive, I’m starting to understand where it’s going wrong: poor push off with left foot, not engaging my core and not leading with chest. Last three reps much better, tighter.

I think best session yet, felt stronger than before, more consistent and confident. Videos last two reps for review later, and bore the wife.

Another good session; my aim now is to stick with the 32kg for at least three of my four sessions. TGU is improving gradually, before I go any heavier or think about ‘timed’ challenges, I need to have it down.

First TGU (left) went awry, bell moved too far right during the ‘to elbow’ stage, then came down hard; unfortunately my instinct was to break fall with palm of free hand, however elbow was also braced into the mat so the impact was pretty hard. I finished all sets with the 32kg but it wasn’t comfortable and is damn sore now. I should have taken my time and gone through the motions before launching into the set, it’s been almost a week since my last session.

Light session as right hand still sore and a little swollen.

Easy.

Going steady on left TGU as right hand is still uncomfortable; still felt a tidy session though.

Slow session, right hand much better but taking it easy regardless. TGU (left) untidy on reps 1 & 2; 3 to 5 better.

Better all round; more focused through each rep, helped to leave music off so I could concentrate totally at each stage. NTS: With the left TGU, take it slower from the start, engage abs, keep chest proud and shoulders packed.

To finish: Fish finger sandwich.

10 x 10_32kg. Ok, not as much oomph tonight.

4 minute rest:

Turkish Get Up: 15:30
10 x 10_32kg. Again not as powerful tonight. The first TGU (left) was faltering, but 2 to 5 were better.

Press-Ups: 10/10/10/10/10

Bar hang: 60s

1 x 1_24kg.
Absolute failure with left TGU. Right perfectly acceptable, but left just not happening. I completed all five on the right before I managed my first left, in the end it was a long haul to do all 5, and I had to insert 1 rep with 24kg just to get the feeling of what I’m supposed to be doing. I’ve no idea why tonight was so bad. Just putting it down to an off day.

Really? I think I am going to switch it over for now, at least until I’ve conquered my gremlins with the left side TGU. It’s funny but I’ve always felt stronger on the swing with my left arm, the opposite with the TGU.
