Nice job bret! I was thinking of trying a snatch test sometime in the coming months. I think i need to go with the 20k too. Last time i ran rop i tested with the 20k and got like 185 in 5 min. I may wait till april when they do sfg certs here in chicago as a symbolic gesture. Perhaps be ready for the 24k by then.

It is tough. Did 100 reps with the 16 kg and 18 kg, doing 10 reps every 30 secs. That was hard, breathing like an old locomotive. Maybe also do it in a couple of month with the 20 Kg one. Havevdone it, but without timing and combining it with a run.

What I did (last year somewherevseveral times was:
5 x 10/10 snatch
1200 m run

Round 1 did all sets with the q6 kg, second round with the 18 kg and final round with the 20 kg. Simple but very tough. Total of 150/150 snatches and 3600 m run. Maybe going to do this one again one day.

Thanks Larry! It was an unplanned test in the spirit of the annual BWAS fitness test, I didn't do the run or ruck portion, heels weren't ready. Overall it was a very positive experience and highlighted strengths and weaknesses. Good data for filling in gaps :)

I think it's a good idea to explore the snatch test once your ankle is ready, it's a valuable tool we have, kind of like running a load or stress test on a battery.. You definitely see where any weak links in the chain are.

Are you going for SFG at some point soon? If you can, I highly recommend it both for training purposes and personal growth.

One day when you're feeling good you should grab up the 20K and see how it goes, failure teaches us a lot more than success I think. Doing a run right afterwards would kick my butt, waiting a couple hours would work. My ST rep strategy has always been 10/10 OTM, that way I get a short rest every minute.

The situation you describe at the end of your post sounds brutal, I imagine you're a fast runner.
