Chronicles of Becoming a Man

On off days, I'm still performing the Bent Press. Mostly with 28kg, but vary up between singles, doubles or triples. I also will bring in the 24 or the 32kg. No rhyme or reason. just a mess of variety

I'm going to wait to see how returning to the ROP block goes next week and gauge if I'll just continue ROP straight through or continue with block training. If block training is decided, then I have to choose between 2x24kg DSN or A+A single C+J, or Giant 3.0 with single C+J. I just have to make a decision on what is best for me.

Today is my 40th birthday, and my wife surprised me with a rower! Spent 10 minutes at my own pace after ROP

So, I made the mistake at finding out the retail price of the rower my wife gifted me for my birthday. I feel compelled to do an abrupt shift in order to invest more time with this machine. The question is, how does one add in rowing to their practice? There's been some good stuff researched on the forum. I could

  1. Do as Harald Does: A&A 2-3x per week, rowing 2 days per week
  2. Iron Cardio 2-3x per week, rowing 2 days per week
  3. Total Package template with rowing supplemented on ballistics day
options...what are your thoughts?

I think any of those options would work as long as you keep the rowing in zones 1 and 2. I’ve been alternating KSK and Giant this summer; three days a week of kettlebells, interspersed with three days a week of easy running, and it’s been working out well.

Update: @Spock- that was exactly where my mind was heading. Next week I'll start Giant 3.0 with the 32 using single C+P, followed by 3 weeks of snatch/bent press combos. On the none kettlebell days I'll do my rowing.

I initially was going to continue ROP, however i've noticed that the heavy sessions with a 5RM were getting extraordinarily long. with kiddos, this makes it very difficulty to train upwards and onward 60 minutes
