Right. It probably strengths your hands and wrists too when you make that contact.
Y'know it almost seems to give the grip a break since you don't have to deal with deceleration, esp when doing tight curves.

I used to use a real heavy piece of hanging canvas when doing drills with a blunted machete. You have to follow through with a lot of commitment or the canvas will wrap the blade and otherwise dance all over the place. That was a lot easier on the hands than just cutting air.
